Melissa Kozerski

Welcome to an exciting year in second grade! My name is Melissa Kozerski and I am a second grade teacher at BJ Ward. It is hard to believe that this is my 16th year of teaching! After graduating from Illinois State University in 2001, I began teaching kindergarten. In the course of my 14 year teaching career, I also taught first, second, third grade. In 2016-7, I worked as a reflective coach for BJ Ward and Wood View Elementary School. Although I loved working with teachers in their classrooms, I realized my true passion is working with kids in my own classroom. I strive to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all of my students that I have the pleasure to have in my classroom. My goal is to facilitate learning in an exciting, meaningful, and engaging way- starting from the first day of school!

In my personal life, I enjoy swimming, reading, spending time with my family and friends, and cooking. I love traveling to different states and participating in triathlons, swim races, and Spartan races. I am a animal lover and love talking walks with my spoiled-rotten Golden Retriever.

I am thrilled to be part of the BJ Ward second grade team! Go Wildcats! GRRR!
