Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Arts-Mathematics and Art Valparaiso University Professional Educator Licence National Lewis University
My name is Theresa Lentz and I started teaching at Bolingbrook High School in 2015. I graduated in 2009 from Valparaiso University where I majored in both Mathematics and Art. After 5 years in school photography I decided to switch gears and went back to school to get my license in teaching from National Lewis University.
I often tell people about my double major in two such different subjects and they are surprised. I love both math and art, specifically photography. I think my passion for both the artistic and logical allows me to explain mathematical topics in multiple ways to help all types of learners understand. I became a math teacher in order to help make it more accessable to students and show them that they can succeed. Everyone can "do" math, they just need the right support, encouragement and work ethic!
Outside of teaching I also instruct Zumba classes at local gyms. Nothing beats having fun while staying fit. I see leading Zumba much like teaching math. They both allow me to make learning something new as enjoyable as possible for the people around me.
