Mrs. Amanda Luna

Hello!  Welcome to my page.  My name is Amanda Luna and I have been an educator for the past 22 years.  I received my BS in Education from Saint Xavier University in 1999 and my MS in Reading Education from Northern Illinois University in 2007 to become a Reading Specialist.

My first teaching experience was on a Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona.  I was a second grade teacher on the reservation.  It was a wonderful experience learning about and living in a different culture.  In 2010 I was trained to become a Literacy Leader from National Louis University.  I was a Literacy Coach/Reading interventionist for seven years.

I taught in Chicago and Cicero School Districts for many years before coming to Valley View School District 365U 5 years ago where I have spent a year as a Reading Interventionist, a year in 2nd grade, and three years in 1st grade.  I have enjoyed teaching and helping students achieve success and look forward to continuing to do so.  I am so excited to teach 1st grade again this year at Wood View!
