Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Leanne Lyons

Welcome to McGee School!  My name is Leanne Lyons and I have been the assistant principal at Jamie McGee School since October, 2002. I am fortunate to be able to work at a school where our focus is to empower our students to become independent learners as we build on their individual strengths. This requires getting to know the students we serve.  Fostering positive relationships with the students and their parents/guardians is a priority.  We strive to educate the students academically, while supporting their social and emotional needs.  When time allows, I enjoy watching students excel outside the school setting.  I attend sporting events, various performances and other venues our students participate in. I encourage students to provide schedules for me and I do my best to attend.  This helps me get to know the students better and to appreciate other talents they possess.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University and my Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois.  I completed post graduate work at the University of Illinois as well.  Prior to working at McGee School, I taught English as a Second Language in Japan at two high schools. Upon returning to Illinois, I taught at the elementary and middle school levels in Chicago.  The schools where I taught housed kindergarten through eighth grade, and I taught every grade from third through eighth. While teaching, I coached boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball and softball.   I also worked as a Math Coordinator at Ruiz Elementary and a building administrator at Michael Faraday Elementary.

I am grateful to be working at Jamie McGee School.  My goal each year is to get to know each and every student while making McGee a supportive environment. I am available at: (630)759-4300 or by email, if you have any questions or concerns.
