Ms. Vicki S. Morrow
My name is Vicki Morrow and I am a mathematics teacher at Bolingbrook High School. While the alternative school "The Phoenix Experience" was located at Bolingbrook High School, I was the teacher for all of the mathematics and business applications classes. I have taught a variety of mathematics, computer science and business classes at middle school, high school, undergraduate and graduate levels. While in graduate school, I was the mathematics and business tutor for the University of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball teams.
After student teaching, I went directly into the corporate world, working in marketing, consulting and corporate strategy at Land's End, Accenture, McDonald's Corporation and United Airlines. While working in the field of business, I never completely left my connection to education. I continued to work with students through Junior Achievement, Inroads and Chicago's Job For Youth programs and adults through online MBA programs. After fifteen years in the corporate world, I decided I was not making the kind of difference I wanted to make in the world and decided to go into education full time. Although I have taught students at every level, I believe that I have a special ability to work with students who struggle with mathematics and school in general.
At the University of Iowa, I was the captain of the Hawkeye Swimming & Diving Team, earned academic All Big Ten and All American honors and was named to the Hawkeye Women's Athletics All-Decade Team. I have continued my love of the sport of diving through coaching in schools in Kansas and Illinois. In addition to teaching at BHS, I am the diving coach for the girls' and boys' diving teams at Naperville North High School. In my spare time, I am developing my Photoshop, digital art and computer programming skills while also serving as a virtual judge for the US Army's eCybermission student program.
I currently teach Algebra I, all mathematics within the Academic Recovery Center (ARC) and I will be teaching our new "Math For Social Justice" course when it begins in the Spring of 2023.
