Degrees and Certifications:
Bradley University B.S. - Social Studies Secondary Education M.A. - Educational Leadership Type 75 Administrative Certificate
Mr. Kwynn Olson
Welcome to AP United States Government and Politics and American Government! I have taught at Bolingbrook High School since 2004. I earned both my bachelor's degree in social studies and master's degree in educational leadership from Bradley University. I taught AP United States History for the last 13 years, and I am very excited to transition to the new AP United States Government and Politics course that is starting this year. Since starting at Bolingbrook High School, I have also taught Modern World History and Honors Modern World History, and I am also certified to teach high school mathematics and science. Outside of class, I am also currently the Head Scholastic Bowl Coach and I was the co-sponsor of Model UN for the past several years.
When I am not at school, I am normally spending time with my wife, 2 children, and our miniature dachshund. We enjoy going to the Brookfield Zoo, the Morton Arboretum, and on various other small summer adventures. On top of that, I am a political junkie, an avid reader of historical non-fiction and sci-fi novels, and a die-hard Cubs fan.
Communication with Parents and Students: Google Classroom and Remind
Google Classroom will be used to both disseminate information and collect homework. Students can go to classroom.google.com and log-in using their Valley View Google account to view specific classroom content. Students will be assigned a classroom code, which is needed to join the correct class.
Remind.com will also be used to communicate with parents and students. This is an app that allows me to send reminders to students about classroom projects and assignments. It is also a way for parents to remain in contact with me as well. Please click on your class period’s link below to view instructions on how to sign up for reminders from class.
