Karen Puckett, Adapted Physical Education
Hello my name is Karen Puckett. I am one of the Adapted Physical Education (APE) teachers for the district at the elementary/middle school level. This is my 10th year of teaching as an Adapted PE teacher with Valley View. I previously taught PE in Chicago Public Schools for 6 years prior to coming to Valley View. I have a B.S. from the University of Illinois of Chicago (UIC) in Athletic Training and another B.S. in Teaching Phyiscal Education K-12. I also have an M.S. degree from UIC in the field of Kinesiology with a concentration in Urban Physical Education where I focused on working with at risk populations using the Personal and Social Responsibility Model (TPSR) under Dr. Donald Hellison. I also have a M.S. degree from Aurora University with a concentration in Outdoor Theraputic Recreation Administration where I focused on working with students with special needs in a special recreational setting (SRA) where I also was asked to incorporate the components of physical educational programming.
Currently I service students in the STLR program at KLH as well as students from Pioneer, Oak View, Wood View and Tibbot.
