I feel blessed to be working in a profession that never feels like work, and know the joy of making a difference in children's lives every single day I come to school. This will be my 23rd year of teaching and I absolutely love spending my days with first graders!
After graduating from the University of Vermont, my early teaching experience was in 3rd grade in Leesburg, Virginia, and in 2nd and 6th grade in New Orleans, Louisiana. I stayed home for many years to raise our three children and then returned as a 1st grade teacher, older and much wiser! I have an M.S. Ed in Literacy Education from Northern Illinois University, and happily look forward to teaching first grade at Irene King for years to come!
My own family is spread across the country, so it's a good thing my husband Bob and I like to travel! Our sons Tim and Andy (and his wife Allison and our grandson Ardy) live out in Denver, Colorado. Our daughter Meg lives in Philadelphia, Pennyslvania, and will be marrying Paul in early October. We love the outdoors and have enjoyed camping, hiking, skiing, and many sports over the years. Reading is definitely my passion too!
I always miss my old students, but look forward to welcoming you this year into our new classroom family. We have a beautiful year of learning ahead of us!
