Welcome to 4th Grade! I am so excited to be a part of your 4th graders life and education this school year! Teaching is my passion and building relationships with my students is my number one priority!  I am proud to say that this will be my 12th year teaching 4th grade at R.C.Hill. I love teaching 4th grade because it's an age where students are starting to learn about themselves as people and learners. Fourth graders are enthusiastic about learning and enjoy learning by doing. They also become independent learners, as well as continuing their understanding on how to work with others. They face new challenges, shift from "learning to read" to "reading to learn", and they start to take risks with their learning. They are responsible enough to take ownership for their learning and push themselves to meet their goals. My favorite part about 4th grade is building a community where students feel safe and confident to take risks in their learning, agree/disagree respectfully, asking for help, and not worry about not knowing. I always tell my students, " It's okay not to know, but it's not okay to not try."

I have just celebrated my 10 year wedding anniversary with my husband Ricky and I'm a mother of two beautiful and energetic boys. I am an animal lover and have a dog that is an English Mastiff. A house of boys! :) Three words that describe me as a person are outgoing, compassionate, and sensitive. I put my whole heart into my family and into teaching! I look forward to our partnership together this school year!
