Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Tammillya Ward

Greetings Pioneer family!

Welcome to Pioneer Elementary! My name is Tammillya Ward and this is my first year as an Assistant Principal in the Valley View School District. I am very excited about the upcoming school year at Pioneer Elementary School.  I am especially eager to support the great collaborative work that is taking place at Pioneer Elementary in ensuring that ALL students are college and career ready.

My experiences in education have involved various levels of teaching, leadership and staff development.  I have enjoyed 11 years of leading students, teachers and teaching teams toward success.

I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in 2003 from Jackson State University.  I earned my first Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix. I spent the 5 years teaching Kindergarten in Charlotte, NC with the Charlotte Mecklenburg School District. In Charlotte, I was awarded New Teacher of the Year for 2007-2008 and Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011.  My family relocated to Bolingbrook in 2011 and I taught Kindergarten at Jonas Salk Elementary for 6 years. During my tenure at Jonas Salk I assumed various leadership roles such as Building Impact Committee member, District Math committee member, STAGES Trainer as well as sponsored after school clubs like Girls on the Run and the Jonas Salk Production club. I was honored as the Valley View Pillar for the 2015-2016 school year. In December 2016, I received my second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis.

I am a firm believer that the task of educating students is too important to be done in isolation. Therefore, I look forward to working with you to ensure the success of ALL students.

It is truly an honor to be a part of the Pioneer family! Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments or concerns you may have at (815) 771-2420 or via email at .
