The Creative Curriculum is the framework at the Early Childhood Center. Children learn academics and social skills through active exploration. The curriculum is based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards and expanded themes called “Units of Study.” Documentation will be gathered on what the children are learning in the assessment component of the Creative Curriculum. The teacher will share the progress of the students through the Individual Education Plan (IEP) updates, Parent/Teacher Conferences, trimester progress reports and the end of year Annual Review, if applicable.
The curriculum will be enhanced by children going on field trips or “study trips.” It is important for children to have first hand experiences in the community so that learning becomes more meaningful. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend these trips with their child. Part of the early childhood program is support of speech and language therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, social worker, and psychologist as needed in the classroom.
