Clubs & Activities
Students meet and play chess for one hour after school. Chess Club is part of the IESA and qualifiers will participate in the State Chess games in February.
If you have a hard time getting your homework done at home or you just don't get it, you should come to ASAC!
Are you interested in getting the inside scoop at JJL? If you like writing, reporting, interviewing, and publishing you should join the newspaper club!
National Junior Honor Society
The role of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is to model leadership, character and good citizenship to the community of Lukancic Middle School. Our members also provide service and promote scholarship.
Scholastic Bowl is a fun, fast-paced academic competition for students. People who like Jeopardy, Trivial Pursuit, reading, and those who get joy out of increasing their knowledge often participate in this activity. In a match, two teams of five vie to answer the most questions quickly and correctly, using an electronic buzzer system. The questions cover a wide range of topics.
All students are welcome to participae in the Student Council. The Student Council fosters communication among students, faculty and administration and promotes civic participation and service for the benefit of our school and the greater community.
Family & Consumer Services (FACS)
Emphasis is placed on activities and projects that require home economics knowledge and skills. It is open to boys and girls in all grades.
The Art Club is for students in all grades who enjoy painting, drawing, and doing crafts. If you like being creative, then Art Club is the club for you!
Students have the opportunity to learn a band instrument (woodwind, brass, or percussion) through daily instruction in the Lukancic Band. Band students sharpen their problem-solving and teamwork skills, while also practicing perseverance towards a common artistic goal. Students perform numerous times during the year and share in many positive experiences as a part of the band family. Contact Band Director Mr. Fogarty for information on how to join.
For students who enjoy singing and performing, choir presents two concerts a year, attends choir festivals and sings for graduation.
Composed of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who share an interest in promoting theatre, Drama Club performs two plays during the school year: one in the fall and one in the spring.
Open to all students at Humphrey Middle School, this group is designed to give students opportunities to explore past and present technologies as well as investigate potential for future advances.
