Ms. Katie Paulson, LPC, NCC

Hello Jane Addams students and families!

I am your 7th grade school counselor! I earned my master of arts in counseling and school counseling from Governors State University. I am also a licensed professional counselor and nationally certfied counselor. My favorite part about being a 7th grade counselor is that I get to build connections with students and families. I have a sense of humor and love to do silly things to make students laugh. I also value mental health and am an advocate for NAMI, the National Association on Mental Illness. My last name is very similiar to our principal's last name, Ms. Polson. So to make things a little easier students can refer to me as Ms. KP or Ms. P. :)

In my free time I love spending time with my family, friends, and dog. I enjoy running, crafting and anything that invovles being outside whether it is kayaking, hiking or camping! I am an adjunct professor and have had the opportunity to teach school counseling graduate classes for several semesters, which I really enjoy! I am honored that I was voted Middle School Counselor of the Year in Illinois in April 2019 and I am now the Vice President of Middle School Counselors in Illinois for the Illinois School Counselor Association.

I sponsor Craft Club with Mrs. McCollum after school. We hope you can join us! If you need anything, please feel free to email, call or stop by my office. I strive to always be available to my students and families!
