Mr. Bonneur
A full-time art educator since 2003, Mr. Bonneur brings a wealth of experience and passion to guiding students through the creative process of art-making and interpreting visual culture.
Interested in higher-education post-retirement, Mr. Bonneur spent the first half of his career seeking a variety of teaching experiences to round out his perspective. He has taught visual art in Kindergarten through post-secondary settings as well as rural-suburban-urban environments. You can find his published lesson plans and edits in Scholastic Art magazine from 1998-2008.
A versatile art educator specializing in art history, 3D work, and mixed-media, Mr. Bonneur strives to connect meaning (expressive elements of art) to both the making and viewing experience of visual art. His past as a farmer and the son of a tinkerer/mechanic has translated well in teaching 3-dimensional arts requiring mastery of tools and creative problem-solving relating to spacial & mechanical challenges.
Despite the range of experiences, Mr. Bonneur is elated to settle in to what he considers his educational home: Valley View School District. The facilities and staff at Bolingbrook High School are exceptional, as are the students and community. VVSD made Mr. Bonneur the educator he is today and he is grateful for every day at BHS!
