Mrs. Lauren Winiarski

Welcome to the Multi-Needs Program here at R.C. Hill!

I am excited to be joining the Multi-Needs program as the Kindergarten-2nd grade teacher this year and getting to know you and your child. I grew up in Bolinbrook and am a former R.C. Hill Tiger myself, having attended 3rd-5th grade in the Challenge Program. I am thrilled to be returning to my childhood alma mater where I have so many of my own fond early memories. Go Tigers!

Professionally, this is my first year teaching at R.C. Hill. Prior to Valley View School District, I was a special education teacher and Best Buddies sponsor at Metea Valley High School in Aurora for 3 years and at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville for 1 year where I serviced students with a variety of diverse and unique physical, emotional, and learning needs across multiple settings. Prior to that, I obtained my Bachelor’s degree as a Learning and Behavior Specialist from Illinois State University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University. Like most special education teachers, I chose this career path because I was impacted by an individual with a disability, specifically my late uncle, who had a cognitive impairment. He was a truly remarkable man, and I learned so much from him. He never allowed his disability to define him.

My mother was a special educator, and after having shadowed her during “Take Your Daughter To Work Day” when I was in 3rd grade, I saw the powerful and rewarding influence a teacher can have on the lives of students who require additional support, and I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps. Personally, I have 2 young children of my own, Hazel and Everett, and have spent the last 6 years as a stay-at-home mom. As my children begin their own school experiences, I am excited to be re-entering the teaching field about which I am so passionate.

My goal as an educator is to create a stimulating, creative, fun, and welcoming environment that promotes engagement and fosters independence across academic and life skills and recognizes the potential in every student. Our multi-needs team will collaborate regularly to ensure that we are providing highly qualified specialized instruction to support your learner academically, physically, functionally, and socially. We truly believe that teaching the whole child is at the heart of what we do at R.C. Hill. Our students benefit most when we work together, and home-school cooperation and communication is so important to achieving that success. I welcome ongoing dialogue to best support your child and create a positive educational experience during these early elementary years.
