Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Eastern Illinois University.

Chris DeSanto

Welcome! I am Mr. DeSanto. I am excited about starting my fifth year here at BHS and my 11th year of teaching. Before teaching, I went to Eastern Illinois University to get my Bachelors Degree in Mathematics with a Teacher's Certification. During my time at Eastern, I was a member of different honor societies and started my coaching career at Charleston High School.

After student teaching at Plainfield South, I taught for 6 years in Decatur, Illinois. During my time in Decatur, I was on their district five year plan, alternative educational community, was a varsity softball coach for three years and a varsity baseball coach for three years. I also started a student reward event called Zero Heros for students that celebrated the students that had zero referrals, zero tardies, zero unexcused absences, and a B average or better. My time in Decatur taught me a lot, but I have been loving my time here at BHS.

During my first year here at BHS, I taught Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 as I became the JV Softball Coach. I continued to teach Algebra 2 in my second year as I became the Varsity Softball Coach. I am going into my fourth year as the Varsity Softball Coach as I continue to be an active member of our Math Department, teaching Geometry. I am a big believer in our mindsets as people. John Wooden said that every day we need to bring our very best effort to become our very best. In my class, I ask for effort every day from our students to become their very best in math. The first step in bringing our best effort is to believe that we are capable of learning the material. It may look different but, we are going to get there!
