Ms. Rachel Weis
I am very excited to start my second year as a speech-language pathologist for Valley View School District. Last year, I serviced students at Humphrey Middle School and Romeoville High School. I currently manage a caseload of culturally and linguistically diverse students at Humphrey and Brooks Middle Schools. For these students, I develop speech and language goals, provide therapeutic services, evaluate and diagnose various disorders of speech and language, and collaborate with other members of the IEP team. I enjoy helping students become their best selves, and I learn something new from them every day. I am also proud to be a staff member in this district, as I am surrounded by supportive and dedicated professionals every day. Last year, I was an assistant coach for both Romeoville High School’s Girls’ Volleyball and Track teams.
Prior to my career at VVSD, I graduated from Lockport Township High School in Lockport, Illinois, where I was very active in various sports and activities. After high school, I attended Saint Xavier University for both undergraduate and graduate school. As an undergraduate, I was involved in numerous student leadership organizations and conducted a research thesis project about Cognitive Referencing for students with Intellectual Disabilities in schools. I graduated in 2017 with my B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and in 2019 with my M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. I currently hold licensure from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, the Illinois State Board of Education, and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
