Degrees and Certifications:
undergraduate (Santa Clara University, '06) = double major in History and Spanish (w/ emphasis in teaching) graduate (National-Louis University, '14) = MAT degree (w/ Special K-12 certificate) U.S. Soccer Federation ('E' license)
After graduating from high school in 2002, I pursued a double major in History & Spanish (w/ an emphasis in Secondary Education) at Santa Clara University in California. Upon graduation in 2006, my teaching career began in earnest when I lived and taught abroad for four years in Ecuador and Mexico, teaching both ESL as well as a variety of Humanities-type classes.
In 2010, I returned to Chicago to pursue a Master's Degree in Education at National-Louis University and, after receiving my initial teaching certificate in June of 2011, I taught Spanish for the next four years at St. Patrick High School while simultaneously coaching both soccer and track & field.
In the summer of 2014, I finally completed my MAT degree (w/ a special K-12 certificate) and, a year later, I moved down to Mexico once again to live and teach (though this time proposing to my long-time girlfriend Jessica, whom I'd met in Mexico City way back in 2008). We subsequently got married in February 2015 and, after teaching for another four years in Mexico, we jointly decided in the summer of 2019 that the time was right to make a permanent move back to Chicago.
Our return to Chicago was followed shortly thereafter by the birth of our one and only son Edward. This is now my third year teaching Spanish at BHS and I'm proud to be a Raider through and through :-) Go Raiders!!
