Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am excited to formally introduce myself and welcome all of the new and former families to Wood View Elementary for the 2017-2018 school year! My name is Jessica McCaslin and I have been an employee in Valley View since 2015. Before coming to Valley View, I was a teacher in Yorkville, Il. I began my career teaching Early Childhood for 2 years. After that I became a Kindergarten teacher for 6 years and a Reading Interventionist (Reading Recovery) for 5 years as well. In 2015, I came to Valley View and over the last two years, I have been the Assistant Principal of Early Childhood. Of all of the roles I have taken on so far, the most important role I can take on is that of support. I am here to support the students, their needs, family advocacy, and help Wood View reach the highest potential possible.
I am excited to work closely with your child and the families of Wood View. Coming from an Early Childhood background, my philosophy is very child centered. I love to see children engaged in their own learning and being an active participant in their learning journey. A big part of that journey, includes family involvement. As a parent to 4 boys (ages 11, 4, and 1 year old twins), family connections are very important to me. I am sure you will see my husband and children often. I am eager to work with each of our families and getting to know you on a personal level. Please do not hesitate to call or email me anytime.
Back to School Day Registration is in August from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. or 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. At this time, there is a variety of activities planned to get your child better acclimated to our school. You will be able to purchase a t-shirt or assignment notebook, pay fees, and bring in any forms necessary. We can’t wait to see you there!
Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to the phenomenal Wood View Elementary Family. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
Jessica L. McCaslin
