• Health and Safety Commitments

    Our priority is to ensure the safe and healthy continuation of on-site learning for all. The District emphasizes the continued use of the following universal layered mitigation strategies: 

    1. Promote vaccination as widely available in the VVSD community for the adult population and the student population in the respective age band.
    2. Recommended that staff and students should stay home when they are ill with COVID-like symptoms in line with CDC recommendations.
    3. COVID-positive cases should be isolated in line with CDC recommendations.
    4. Practice handwashing and respiratory etiquette.
    5. Cleaning and maintaining health facilities.
    6. Improved air quality and ventilation as recommended by the Illinois Department of Public Health and ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers).
    7. Testing for symptomatic students with parent/guardian consent. 

      Additional Layered Mitigation Strategies
      The following additional strategies will be recommended based on community positivity or building case-reported positivity.

    8. At a high COVID-19 Community Level, universal indoor masking in schools is recommended by the CDC.
    9. Adaptive pause (period of remote learning) for a classroom, program, or school made in determination with the Will County Health Department.
