VVSD Staff Spotlight- Cathy Derwin, Art Teacher- Romeoville High School

As is the case with so many teachers in VVSD, Romeoville HS Art Teacher Cathy Derwin was encouraged as a student by one of her teachers to develop her skills and interests- which led to a career in teaching. Cathy is also an artist in her own right, specifically in the art of photography.

In a previous job in another district as middle school art teacher, among Cathy’s duties were to teach art to multi-needs students. After joining the Romeoville HS staff, Cathy reached out to the RHS Multi-Needs Team to propose a similar opportunity for their students. The rest, you could say, is art history.
