VVSD Staff Spotlight- Lisa Cooney, Pioneer Elementary School 5th Grade Teacher
Like many teachers beginning their career, Lisa Cooney taught different grade levels before settling into a specific grade level. Lisa has been a fifth grade teacher for most of her 21-year teaching career, and she has been on the teaching staff at Pioneer for that entire time.
Lisa began her career as Miss Wilhelmi when she was just out of college. Lisa learned her last name was going to change thanks to a surprise orchestrated by the principal. The amazing part about the surprise was her students were in on the surprise and successfully kept it a secret.
