Schools in lockdown Thursday a.m. following neighborhood shooting
Following a shooting incident in a Romeoville neighborhood this morning, the Romeoville Police department placed all Romeoville schools in lockdown mode for several hours.
The lockdown came after Romeoville High School students were already in school but before middle school and elementary school students were to report for class. Middle school buses that were in transition at the time were re-directed to the Romeoville Recreation Center. Certain elementary school buses with children were also delayed in neighborhood areas deemed safe as a precaution.
The lockdown was lifted around 9:25 a.m. All students were returned to their schools by 11 a.m. All classes have resumed.
