Our District
Valley View School District 365U
Valley View School District 365U is in Will County, southwest of the City of Chicago where Interstates 55 & 355 intersect. VVSD consists of nearly all of the thriving communities of Bolingbrook, Romeoville, along with portions of Plainfield, Lockport, and Downers Grove. Our District was formed in 1972 as several smaller districts consolidated to meet the needs of a growing community.
The number “365” in our name is a nod to our history, as the rapid growth in the community during the 1970’s required a year-round school calendar to serve the needs of our students. The need for the year-round calendar was eliminated over time as our community has continually “stepped up” through the years to provide for the needs of our learners. The District now serves the educational needs of approximately 15,500 students in 21 educational facilities. Valley View School District 365U is one of Will County's largest employers, with more than 2400 full time employees.
The communities of Bolingbrook and Romeoville are recognized nationally as being among the most diverse in Illinois. VVSD is a desirable destination for families, who in addition to seeking a high-level educational experience, are also seeking an environment that welcomes, embraces and celebrates a multitude of cultures, experiences, and perspectives. Our Board of Education and our community as a whole are committed to the education of Every Learner, Every Day both academically, and socially & emotionally.
Financially, Valley View School District 365U is one of the most fiscally responsible and stable school districts in Illinois. The District operates on a balanced budget and holds bond ratings of AA- from Standard & Poor’s and Aa2 from Moody’s. The District has not found it necessary to ask the taxpayers of the community for an additional tax levy since 2002. VVSD has expanded our programming over that time to expand the capacity of our Early Childhood program, implement All-Day Kindergarten for all students (without a tuition charge as exists in other districts in the Chicagoland area), and fully staff and support a transition program for post-high school age special needs students.
