Superintendent
Rachel Kinder, Ed.S, proudly serves as Superintendent of Schools in Valley View School District 365U, a PK-12 large unit district serving nearly 16,000 learners and their families and 2,500 staff members in the communities of Bolingbrook, Romeoville and portions of neighboring communities.
Prior to her role as Superintendent, she served as Assistant Superintendent for Grades 6-12 and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services PK-12 for nearly a decade. She has also held other roles in VVSD as a high school building administrator, teacher leader, and classroom educator since she joined the district in 2007. She began her teaching career as a Spanish and English as a Second Language teacher in Joliet Township District 204, her high school alma mater.
During her tenure in VVSD, she directed VVSD’s first-ever strategic planning effort and led the focus on college, career and life readiness, social-emotional learning, family engagement, and community partnerships. Superintendent Kinder is a champion for equity driven efforts, building a culture of continuous improvement at all levels, and empowering partnership and collaborative problem-solving. Her leadership remains focused on providing a responsive and caring culture for learners and staff, and building systems and capacity to provide learning, growth, and equitable outcomes and opportunities for Every Learner.
Superintendent Kinder earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish Translation and Business from Northern Illinois University. She continued her education by earning her Master of Education Degree from the University of Illinois Chicago and earned a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Governors State University. She earned her Ed.S. and Superintendent Endorsement from Concordia University Wisconsin and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree.
It is truly my honor to be part of the Valley View School District community and I am humbled by being entrusted by our students, families, staff members, Board of Education and all stakeholders in serving as Superintendent of Schools.
Our commitment is to meet the educational needs of Every Learner, Every Day while providing a learning experience that produces future leaders who are Empathetic Citizens, Critical Thinkers, Adaptive Learners, and Effective Communicators. These learning goals reflect the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of our community for our learners.
