Ms. Claudia Gurney
Hola! My name is Claudia Gurney and I am the Assistant Principal of Student Supports. I am beyond excited to be part of the Raider family! I received my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education Family Consumer Sciences with a minor in Spanish from Northern Illinois University. I then obtained my Master's degree from Concordia University in School Leadership with a principal endorsement. I started my career as a Culinary Arts teacher at Morton East High School. In my eight years of teaching, I had the privilege of being the head varsity dance coach, the homecoming coordinator, and participated in various other clubs and activities! From there, I was given the opportunity to move to Morton West to be a Dean of Students. As a Dean of Students, I worked closely with student leaders to develop a Peer Mediation program in order to provide students with resources for conflict resolution. In my most recent role as an Assistant Principal of Operations at Morton West, I have worked on improving day to day operations, focusing on student enrollment, scheduling, and safety and security within the building.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, trying new restaurants, and traveling, as it fascinates me to learn about different cultures! As I enter my twelfth year in education, one of my greatest joys has been serving and working alongside a diverse population of students, staff, and communities. I look forward to continuing to build long-lasting relationships with the Bolingbrook High School family!
