Reschedule.

R-E-S-C-H-E-D-U-L-E.  Reschedule.

Mother Nature must have been a poor speller in school because how else to explain why the VVSD Middle School Spelling Bee was rescheduled twice and ultimately cancelled.  In order to determine the District’s representatives at the Will County Spelling Bee, our five middle schools held “spell-offs” among their 6th, 7th, and 8th grade champions.

Representing A. Vito Martinez will be 8th grader Maryam Sohail Warraich, the winner at Brooks is 7th grader, the top speller at Jane Addams is 8th grader Nathan Dowuonah, Sumaiya Idrees, Lukancic's champion is 7th grader Noah Pulins, and Humphrey will be represented by 8th grader Simona McDonald.  After her win at Humphrey, we visited with Simona who became champion in her first ever attempt at the Spelling Bee.

Watch the Video to hear Simona explain why she decided to try the Spelling Bee.
