This Week in Valley View

News and Notes from Around the District

February 11 Message to VVSD Families from Superintendent Rachel Kinder

In This Together

Partnership is at the core of serving every learner and the entire Valley View Community.  I continually stress how appreciative we are of our partnership with families, staff, and students. This has allowed us to make major adjustments together and continue to thrive despite many challenges. Community partnerships are just as vital to our ability to thrive as a community and overcome any obstacle together. Every day in VVSD, community partners assist us to give our whole heart and our best work for our children and families.

This week, we were able to successfully accomplish a major undertaking in the area of health and safety and provide a major service to our staff. Through a partnership with Will County Health Department and the tremendous support of countless Valley View team members, Edward Hospital Emergency Medical Services System, including paramedics from the Bolingbrook, Romeoville, and Naperville Fire Departments, along with staff and students from the Rasmussen College of Nursing, we were the first school district in the county to provide an in-district COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic. By the end of the day tomorrow, nearly 1,700 VVSD staff members will have received the first of two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine! This is a major step forward for us in our ability to work safely toward even greater levels of in-person instruction, support, and opportunity in the future. We are extremely grateful for everyone who made this possible!

There is so much to celebrate this week with the successful completion of our final transition of hybrid learners at the high school level, the return of winter sports, and vaccinations for staff. All of this is possible because of our shared commitment to health and safety as well as our ability to be flexible and adapt once again to support our kids, at home and on-site. Thank you for your vigilance to health and safety precautions and protocols and for your continued support.

Please stay safe (and warm!) this weekend and remember there will be no school on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day.

In Partnership,

Rachel Kinder, Ed.S
Superintendent of Schools

We Have Amazing Community Partners in VVSD

Fire Department Volunteers Vaccine Preparation Rasmussen Nursing College Students

This week, VVSD distributed the first round of COVID-19 vaccinations to nearly 1700 staff members. This was a major exercise in planning and execution which would not have been possible without the Will County Health Department, Edward Hospital EMS, local paramedics from the Bolingbrook, Romeoville and Naperville fire departments and volunteers from the Rasmussen College of Nursing.

We are deeply indebted to all our community partners who contribute to helping us fulfill our mission to educate the children of the VVSD community.
