Mr. Blaise Mongangu- Lukancic Middle School Social Worker
March 1-7 is National School Social Work Week sponsored by the Social School Work Association of America. The week highlights the vital role of school social workers. “Beacon of Hope: School Social Workers – Lighting the Way” is the theme for School Social Work Week 2020. School Social Workers are able to light the way, emphasizing the whole child, collaborating with other professionals, linking students and families with needed services, and advocating for the profession.
Here in VVSD, school social workers are part of our comprehensive student services staff. Watch the video to meet John J. Lukancic Middle School 7th Grade Counselor Mr. Blaise Mongangu. Mr. Mongangu certainly understands challenges and having to adjust to changes. He left his native country, the Republic of Congo to come to the United States. He had to learn a new language but knew all along that he wanted to become a school social worker and use his experiences adjusting to changes to help middle school students navigate the changes in their lives.
