Jane Addams Middle School Designated as Exemplary School by State Board of Education

Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Mitchem

VVSD Superintendent of Schools Dr. James Mitchem congratulates Jane Addams students and staff on being named an Exemplary School by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Jane Addams Middle School has earned designation as an Exemplary School based on 2018 Illinois School Report Card data compiled by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The exemplary designation is given to schools with academic performance in the top 10 percent statewide. To be exemplary, none of a school’s student subgroups, including racial and ethnic groups, students from low-income families or those with special needs, can be performing below thresholds set by the State Board.

Jane Addams Middle School is one of just 47 middle schools in the state that achieved Exemplary status.

At the recent “Males Make a Difference” breakfast at Jane Addams, we visited with the Hrdlicka family and asked them to describe what makes Jane Addams a special school for families and students.
